Coalition of Chaos
11th March 2023 - Nottingham - Motorpoint Arena
Game themes: Modern UK / Political
Gameplay: Negotiation / Rules-Lite / Teams
Coalition of Chaos is a hypothetical scenario based around the aftermath of a general election in the UK - with the Conservatives out of power, what will the new Labour government do? How would YOU run things, given the chance?
The March ‘23 run of Coalition of Chaos saw a faction expelled from the Labour Party, Cabinet Ministers compromised by foreign powers, corporations, and their own uncovered sex scandals (the position of Health Secretary was cursed, with three changes across the day!), and the question of further devolution for Scotland quickly escalated as things became more chaotic in the UK.
As the game was drawing to a close there were rumblings about a vote of no-confidence from the Conservatives, but with Labour having launched Universal Basic Income and poured more funding into the NHS, they were sure to find some support - but would it have been enough? Nobody knows, but it makes an ideal post-game social discussion topic!
Based on the Power to the People megagame by Jim Wallman of Stone Paper Scissors.
